Neurological Rehabilitation
Neurological rehabilitation is the assessment and treatment of patients who have a neurological disorder, which can affect the brain or spinal cord and nerves. Common neurological conditions are stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's disease and nerve injuries /palsy.
Therapeutic exercise and re-training have long been known to restore motor function and reduce disability. Maximum recovery can occur with a treatment combination of physiotherapy and neuro- medicine.
One of the primary goals of neurological rehabilitation is to improve the activity and quality of life of individual patients. This type of rehabilitation is done with the aim of achieving neuroplasticity. Neuroplasticity can be defined as the brain’s ability to change, remodel and reorganize for purpose of better ability to adapt to new situations.
Every session is based on the use of exercises, modalities and assistive devices to help patients achieve maximum independence. Treatment consists of hands-on techniques, motor relearning techniques, proprioceptive training, co-ordination exercises and functional rehabilitation.
A PHYSIOTHERAPIST WHO IS SPECIALIZED IN NEURO- REHABILITATION WILL BE ABLE TO PLAN AN APPROPRIATE SESSION FOR YOU, DECREASE YOUR DISABILITY AND HELP YOU ACHIEVE AS MUCH INDEPENDENCE AS POSSIBLE.
